“But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God”
This was the theme of the July 11-13 youth conference at Ave Maria University attended by teens from San Pedro Parish.
Like the theme of the retreat, our recent Sunday gospel passages from the Gospel of Luke center on discipleship – the instruction Jesus gives to those who follow him and the experiences they have with him. They are like a blueprint for the life of a Catholic parish – the ordinary Christian life as encounter, transformation, and mission. As a parish community, we encounter Jesus in Word and Sacrament and become empowered to proclaim him who has received, healed, and fed us. We can reach out to others informally in prayer and personal encounter and more formally through our many parish ministries. Personal prayer is indispensable for all of us, and just as Jesus received Mary and favored her with the “choice portion” of intimate time with him, we receive special gifts of God’s grace when we make a time of retreat to have special time with Jesus.

Thank you, San Pedro Parish!
Your generous support of our youth fund enabled our teens to participate in the weekend retreat at AMU, a life-changing experience of coming together with 600 other youth to receive spiritual formation, encounter Jesus in worship, and be renewed in faith. We are grateful for your generosity to this crucial outreach to our youth. Contributions to the San Pedro youth fund are unassessed and can be made any time through directed gifts or online giving.
