“Lord, it is good that we are here!”
Jesus invited Peter, James and John to come up the mountain and witness his Transfiguration…. You and I also have an opportunity to be together with the Lord for some very special moments in the coming weeks.
PARISH MISSION: THE HOLY EUCHARIST IN THE BIBLE
We are delighted to welcome back Fr. Victor for our Parish Mission, “The Holy Eucharist in the Bible” on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, March 11-13 at 7:00 pm. You might remember Fr. Victor’s winning smile and engaging preaching from last November. Now he returns to help us dive more deeply into the mystery of God’s love in the Holy Eucharist. What a great way to prepare for the commemoration of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday, when we recall the night Jesus gave us the gift of his own precious Body and Blood, the bread of everlasting life.
CONCERT OF HOPE
Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast. -William Congreve, 1679 These words were stenciled on the piano in our basement when I was a kid. If you looked at it just right, you could see the words barely visible through the red paint that covered the whole thing. I learned to play piano on that old beast of an instrument, and I experienced the power of music to express what was in my heart – a language beyond words. On Sunday, March 15 at 3:00 pm, I hope you can join me here at San Pedro for a Concert for Hope, presented by Eric Genuis. I’ve known Eric for 20 years, since serving at Holy Ghost Church in Denver, where he and his family were parishioners. Eric’s compositions and story express the incredible power of music to still move our hearts, fill them with hope, and lift them to God. Eric had a successful career in Hollywood, writing world-class music for the big screen. But he was called to dedicate his gift to a greater purpose. Bringing his original compositions, he gathers a group of local musicians to join him in presenting these concerts – at churches and schools, in private homes, and in prisons and rehab centers.
I hope you can also come to experience in person the transforming and uplifting power of music.
