Photos and Notations from our own Fr. Nathan!

São João Batista, the Oblate parish in Jundiaí, Brazil, where I had have now concelebrated several Masses (no português!), including the 50th ordination anniversary of Father Pedro and the perpetual religious vows of Brother Leandro this past weekend. With a population of only 400k, Jundiaí is considered a very modest sized city in the greater São Paulo area.

Along with Fr. Kaue Ribera, who was ordained last September in Brazil, I visited Nossa Senhora de Lourdes, the Oblate parish in São Paulo. Many churches here, like most of the buildings, are built on every inch of available space, but structures also include outdoor spaces as integral parts of homes and other buildings.

¡Hola, Buenos Aires! Santuario Santa Rita where I am staying is both an Oblate parish church and Argentina’s national shrine of St. Rita of Cascia. Fr. Kaue and I were joined by Fr. Francis, one of our Oblate confreres from Nigeria.

Florida! I discovered that the main pedestrian shopping district in Buenos Aires is Calle Florida!

I spent a week on retreat with the Oblates of Argentina, then visited our parish of San Ignacio de Loyola in Córdoba. After the retreat, we spent time in prayer, discussion of important topics in the life of the community here, and enjoying a lot of good food and drink. An important event at Las Calandrias was celebrating Fr. Julio’s 93rd birthday. Argentinian beef and wine definitely hold up the international reputation!
